Open Zoom events with leading climate change experts from around the world
To recognise climate change is a global issue, He Pou a Rangi, the Climate Change Commission, is organising a series of open Zoom sessions with international experts leading climate action around the world.
To begin the series Chair of the independent UK Committee on Climate Change Lord Deben will join Commissioner Dr Harry Clark to discuss the importance of timely climate action, the value of having an independent body advising on climate policy, and how good process leads to lasting change.
The UK CCC was established in 2008. In that time it has released six carbon budgets. The most recent – published in December 2020 – calls for accelerated action and what the Committee has called a world-leading commitment that would see the UK reduce emissions to 2030 faster than any other major economy. Lord Deben has led the Committee since 2012.
Register to join the open Zoom at 8-9pm NZDT on Wednesday, 17 March. A recording will be available on our website after the session.
This open Zoom is the first in a series of sessions with international experts who have been leading climate action around the world. Keep an eye out on our events page for upcoming sessions.
