Two weeks left to make your submission
There are two weeks left to make a submission on the Commission’s draft advice to Government on the steps we can take to lower emissions in Aotearoa.
We have received a great response to the draft advice so far with more than 1500 submissions received.
We expect this number to rise as New Zealanders’ make sure to have their say on the future of climate action in Aotearoa.
Commission CE Jo Hendy says she is really pleased to see so many people taking the opportunity to shape how Aotearoa responds to climate change.
“The response we have received so far from the people of Aotearoa has been truly inspiring. All are an invaluable asset that will help us understand the size of our task, and the scale of the ambition that exists,” she says.
The Commission’s consultation period opened on February 1, with submissions initially due by March 14. This deadline was extended by two weeks and now closes on March 28 at 11:59pm.
Following the close of our consultation period, we will review the submissions we have received and feed this into our final advice which we will provide to government on 31 May.
A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to our consultation period so far, whether you have attended one of our webinars, joined us at an event, or already sent through your submission.
If you have not made a submission on our draft advice yet, it’s not too late. You can head over to our consultation page and make your voice heard: https://haveyoursay.climatecommission.govt.nz/
